Starting from 2001, National Statistics Office of Mongolia (NSOM) and Statistics Korea (KOSTAT) established effective bilateral cooperation and signed a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) in 2002, which was renewed on Dec 15, 2014.
Within the scope of MOU, delegation headed by Mr. KANG Changick, Director General, Social Statistics Bureau, Mr. HONG Byongsurk, Director, Agriculture and Fisheries Statistics Division, Ms. KIM Jeongran, Director, Welfare Statistics Division, Mr. PARK Sangwoo, Assistant Director, International Statistical Cooperation of KOSTAT visited NSOM from July 01-05, 2018.
On July 2, 2018, Ms. Ariunzaya Ayush, Chairperson of NSOM met with delegates and shared experiences in Agricultural Statistics and Household Income and Expenditure Survey.
During the meeting Ms. Ariunzaya Ayush stated that "Mongolia conducts the Livestock census in cold weather, the total number of livestock is estimated at 66 million in 2017. NSOM faced challenges to learn how to use advanced technology and spend less money on livestock census, to identify proportion of fish stocks within biologically sustainable of Sustainable Development Goal 2030. Mongolia has no access to the ocean even though we had fish. Therefore, I hope that we can cooperate to learn your experiences on methodology on counting fish”. In addition, NSOM and KOSTAT shared their experiences on Household income and expenditure survey during the visit.
