The National Statistics Office of Mongolia (NSO) is co-organizing the "Supply and Utilization Account and Food Balance Sheet" second level professional training with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations from 3rd-6th of December. The training is including participants from National Statistics Office, National Security Council, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, National Public Health Institute, Professional Inspection Agency, School of Industrial Technology of University of Science and Technology and "Friendly Association of Nutrition" NGO.
Within the framework of the training, discussion was made on Governmental organizations how to cooperate with Non-Governmental Organizations to construct the "Supply and Utilization Account and Food Balance Sheet" and how to use its outcome in a sufficient way. For example, establishing a national working group which involves all the stakeholders is very important start to consolidate the terminology of food at a national level and to have a common understanding of food balance. Constructing the Food Balance Sheet (FBS) will provide the food related policies and decisions to be more realistic. To emphasize, it will conduct various of benefits on long-term changes in food consumption, nutrients per capita, human health development and importance of sufficient data to be reflected in the policy-making.
